Two shops in the Inland Empire carry Paper Planes: Creative Soul at Mills
Circle in Ontario, and Kings on Holt Boulevard in Montclair.
Inland heat runs harder and longer than it does on the coast, so
truckers and bucket hats earn their place
here more than anywhere. The Original Crown, the
founding 9Fifty, one size, no measuring, is the year-round ask both are most
likely to have.
Here is what makes this market unusual: they are three miles apart. Every other
multi-shop market on this list asks you to pick one and drive. This is the only
one where you can genuinely see both and still be home for lunch. If Creative
Soul is out of your size, Kings is five minutes away rather than an afternoon.
One sequencing note: Kings closes at 6, earlier than Creative Soul. If you
are doing both, do Kings first. (909) 398-1285.
They straddle the San Bernardino and Los Angeles county line, which is a real
border out here even though it looks like nothing on a map. Creative Soul sits in
the Ontario Mills orbit and catches shoppers from across the region. Kings on
Holt is the neighbourhood address, Holt Boulevard has carried independent retail
far longer than the outlet centre has existed.
This market is listed separately from Los Angeles on purpose. Ontario is forty
miles east of Hollywood, and out here that is a different place with different
customers and, in traffic, a different day entirely.
